What I love most about this community is that, in a valley of 1.3 million, we have a community of 65,00 in Woodland Hills - and it really has a “small town feel.”
This is a special community that takes care of its own. Our huge volunteer spirit and involvement of the community members is truly amazing. From feeding the elderly at Thanksgiving, to attending the free summer concerts in the park, this is a community that comes together on a regular basis.
What I’ve seen in the 13 years as Honorary Mayor is a town where whatever faith you are, you have a place to worship. Woodland Hills also offers great schools with tremendous parent involvement. Two of our high schools, Taft and El Camino, are national Academic Decathlon winners! We offer superb education in all of our schools, both public and private, and have several charter schools in the local area.
When I first moved to the valley in 1980, the area where the Marriott now stands was a cornfield. Today, Warner Center is home to many giants of commerce - from 21st Century Insurance to Boeing.
The building here is incredible - there is a range of housing from new apartments and condominiums to gorgeous single family housing. There is a high police presence and low crime as our community here sticks together.
Our community is growing even more with several new world class projects. The prestigious Westfield Organization has a grand new vision for the Warner Center area. They recently submitted plans for “the Village at Westfield Topanga.” This exciting 700 million dollar mega project will bring many new jobs to our area and create a vibrant shopping, dining, living, entertainment and community experience for us. I am so proud to be associated with this project, and watch our community prosper and grow.
I am honored to be involved in almost every aspect of this community as Honorary Mayor and as a State Farm Agent. What I love best is the local volunteer spirit. There are always people willing to help out, volunteer, donate, and make Woodland Hills a better place to live and work.
